The 2017 Nissan GT-R Track Edition showed up at last week’s New York Auto Show where visitors were introduced to the latest refinements Nissan had in store for its GT-R series. The latest offering from the Nissan performance car lineup perfectly balances its performance aspect with elegant features and bits of refinement that mark this surprisingly broad update.

Engine and Performance

On the GT-R lineup spectrum, the new Track Edition falls right between the regular GT-R model and the far nuttier track-focused Nismo model. The 2017 Nissan GT-R Track Edition is powered by the base twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V-6 engine, that with its performance of up to 565 horsepower, we are not sure can be called a base engine at all. Maybe in comparison with the GT-R Nismo’s 600 ponies it can.

Exterior

All the exterior improvements made for the new Track Edition have been designed with one purpose only and that is to increase the performance. For instance, the new model’s body has additional adhesive bonding that boosts the vehicle’s rigidity compared to the GT-R Premium model. Furthermore, the suspension is tuned by Nismo, who had the task to lower the weight and add roll stiffness, also in comparison with the Premium GT-R model. The Track Edition features the Nismo administered 255/40R20 front and 285/35R20 rear Dunlop Sports Maxx GT600 run flat tires. Other parts provided by Nismo include the front fenders, the 20-inch forged alloy wheels and the carbon-fiber rear spoiler.

Interior

As for the interior, the 2017 Nissan GT-R Track Edition comes exclusively in a black and red color scheme that featured throughout the cabin. The centerpiece of the luxurious interior is the new set of leather-upholstered Recaro seats. In terms of tech, the new Track Edition comes with some excellent standard features which include the NissanConnect infotainment system with navigation and easy app access, a rearview camera, as well as a top of the line Bose audio system with active noise cancellation.
