The 2017 Nissan Rogue Sport is the newest crossover from the famed Japanese brand. Only, it is not entirely new. It is actually a version of the Nissan Qashqai, a European model that has been available over there for a while now and since there is never one too many crossovers for the North American market, the Rogue Sport is making its way Stateside pretty soon.

2017 Nissan Rogue Sport Exterior

The 2017 Nissan Rogue Sport will join the regular Rogue model and help Nissan combat the class-leading Hyundai Tucson and Chevy Equinox respectively. In terms of design, the Rogue Sport is a cardboard copy of the Qashqai, which has not had any significant updates since the 2015 model year, when it received sharper and sportier exterior styling. Therefore, the Rogue Sport will feature the popular “V-motion” grille as well as the angular headlamps and bumpers. Furthermore, the sharp lines on the side skirts, muscular haunches and wheel arches, and a coop-like roof line complete the commanding look, suitable for any crossover vehicle.

2017 Nissan Rogue Sport Interior

Inside, the Sport takes after its European counterpart as well. Although there are some new features authentic for the US market. Features like the sporty steering and redesigned spokes with more buttons are brand-new. As for the high-tech features, we are really looking forward to the NissanConnect and Navigation that will include Online Search with Google, Valet Alert, SiriusXM Traffic, and voice command. Moreover, look out for the Advanced Drive-Assist display on the center console. A system that gives you multi-tasking abilities with many of the convenient features such as the navigation, phone calls and driving modes. Other driver assist features will include Nissan’s Intelligent Cruise Control, Forward Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and High Beam Assist.

2017 Nissan Rogue Sport Engine and Powertrain

Under the hood, you will be able to find the 2.0-liter four-cylinder, which is the largest engine the Qashqai has to offer. It delivers up to 141 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque. Although that might be slightly less than the 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbo that is also available for the European market, it is far more than what the 1.2 liter has to offer in other world markets. The Rogue Sport can go from zero to 60 mph in a about 10 seconds, which might be a little slow, but it is perfect for sensible city rides.
The 2.0 liter will send its power to front wheels, through an Xtronic CVT transmission. However, there is an All-Wheel Drive system available as well. The European version also features a set of optional diesel engines. Unfortunately, the US market will not be as lucky.
