Once again, the 2018 Lamborghini Huracán Performante Spyder has just been spotted testing, but only this time we have a little more information to go on than just the sneaky images of a camouflaged prototype. Last month we found out there will be a convertible version of the Huracán Performante, and now we can add a detailed performance description to that list as well.

Powering the new Huracan will reportedly be the already familiar 5.2-liter V-10 engine that has the capability to deliver up to 631 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque. As for the transmission, the standard 7-speed dual-clutch system is said to be enhanced to better the performance, while the power will be sent to all four wheels through a Haldex all-wheel-drive system with a mechanical self-locking rear differential.
This powertrain alignment is able to send the 2018 Lamborghini Huracán Performante Spyder around the Nürburgring track in an enviable time – 6:52.01. This result is a new record for any production model. Even if this is the result of the hardtop version of the Huracán Performante Spyder, we don’t expect the new drop-top model to be any slower than this. Moreover, the new model is expected to go from zero to 60 mph in less than 3.0 seconds, while the top speed is set at 202 mph.
Credited for such a forcible performance is the new active aerodynamics setup labled the Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva or ALA. This new system is comprised of electronically-controlled flaps that can easily change between low-drag and high-downforce settings. But, the centerpiece is perhaps located at the rear where the air ducts in the engine cover join with the rear wing and the wing pylons. Inside the ducts, flaps can consistently be opened or shut in order to regulate the aero while the Huracán Performante dominates the track.
The new lightweight design also plays a part in the performance boost, and a very big one that is. The exterior is constructed entirely on a hybrid aluminum and carbon fiber frame. This results in an overall weight of just 3,047 pounds for the hard-top model, but the convertible, even with its retractable roof system, shouldn’t be much heavier. Other notable new exterior features created entirely out of forged composite components include front and rear spoilers, engine cover, rear bumper, and rear diffuser. The convertible Huracán will reportedly be able to retract its roof in just 17 seconds, while of up to 31 mph.
