2020-hyundai-kona-ev-3

The new crossover from the Korean manufacturer instantly established its position on the market, thanks to its very attractive styling and great overall characteristics. Now it is turn to see its all-electric version, which will hit the U.S. market this year, as the 2024 Hyundai Kona EV. This model is already available in some parts of the world and most critics are pretty amazing. Despite not being designed as an electric vehicle on purpose. Latest reports suggest its arrival in North America in the second half of next year.

Pros

  • Outstanding range
  • Attractive styling
  • Fast-charging option
  • Practical cabin

Cons

  • Bump-sensitive ride
  • Below-average cargo capacity

Exterior

As we already mentioned, the 2024 Hyundai Kona EV won’t be built as an electric vehicle on purpose. Despite that fact, expectations from it are pretty big. The new model will come with a familiar shape, which is definitely a good thing. The standard Kona is definitely one of the most attractive models in the class. The only big difference is at the front, where the Kona EV is about to come with a little bit different face. As you may presume, this model doesn’t feature a common grille, since there is no need for fresh air. The 2024 Hyundai Kona EV will feature rather a cover made of plastics in this area. Also, it will come with a few more details that will accentuate its all-electric character. This refers to things like unique wheels designs, color options, and similar things.

Interior

The 2024 Hyundai Kona EV will come with a familiar cabin layout. We don’t expect to see too many differences compared to standard gasoline models. Of course, count on a little bit different dashboard and instrument cluster, adapted to an electric powertrain. The rest of the cabin will be quite the same. In practice, this means a cabin that features decent materials quality, as well as a high level of comfort and practicality.

Engine

Of course, this is the most interesting aspect of the 2024 Hyundai Kona EV. It will come with an electric motor that delivers around 200 horsepower, so we could say that this will be a tough competitor to the Chevy Bolt. Two models feature similar body layout and max output. Allegedly, the Kona EV will feature slightly better range, probably more than 250 miles. Still, keep in mind that the Bolt has been around for some time and that updates are expected in the near future.
