Most sports car enthusiasts are perfectly aware that something is missing in Nissan’s lineup for years. Of course, we are talking about the famous sports coupe Silvia, which has been in production for decades and then suddenly discontinued in 2002. Latest reports suggest that the new generation is finally about to come. Considering that the previous generation was codenamed as S15, we have no doubt that the new one would come as the 2020 Nissan Silvia S16. We are pretty sure that the new model will stick to the original design philosophy, but also a whole bunch of new technologies and design solutions.
- Famous nameplate
- RWD layout, new drift hero
- Lots of advanced technologies
- Still waits for the official confirmation
- More expensive than previous versions
The 2020 Nissan Silvia S16 is expected to be compact in size, or slightly bigger. In terms power and performances, it should take place somewhere between small sports like Toyota 86 or Mazda Miata and large ponies such as Ford Mustang and Chevy Camaro. Latest reports suggest a classic two-door coupe layout, with the shape that closely resembles the previous S15 models. In terms of base mechanics, we count on Silvia’s typical RWD layout, though some reports suggest optional AWD model as well. In terms of the styling, we are pretty sure that the new model will stick to the company’s newest design language, including the famous V-Motion grille. Also, we are pretty sure that the 2020 Nissan Silvia S16 will also come with plenty of its own, exclusive details.
It seems too early to talk about some more precise details about the interior design. At this point, we can speculate that the new model will come with a familiar 2+2 seating configuration. Also, we count on a driver-oriented dashboard, with a lot of influence from the GT-R supercar. Of course, count on all those racing details such as carbon fiber surfaces, Alcantara seats etc.
Once again, the 2020 Nissan Silvia S16 should stick to its roots. Therefore, we count on an efficient four-cylinder engine under the hood. It should be a displacement of 2.0 liters, while the latest reports suggest a max output of around 300 horsepower. These numbers will probably be reserved for the hi-performance Nismo version. Base models will probably feature slightly lest power. Also, we count on both manual and automatic gearboxes in the offer. Power will go to rear wheels, though some reports suggest optional AWD versions in the offer as well.
2020 Nissan Silvia S16 Release Date and Price
The 2020 Nissan Silvia S16 is still just a speculation and we are eagerly waiting to hear something from the officials. If it ever arrives, we presume that the base price will go around $30,000 – $35,000.
