2020 RAM 1500

The famous truck has been redesigned recently and it came with lots of great improvements compared to the previous generation. However, that doesn’t mean that the 2020 RAM 1500 will come without more important novelties.

There is a couple of interesting things to come with this model. First of all, the Regular Cab version will come new, considering that the 2019-year model remained unchanged. Also, some reports suggest a new diesel engine in the offer.

Other than that, the 2020 RAM 1500 should carry on in the same way. It should hit the market late in the year.

Pros

  • Upscale interior
  • Spacious cabins
  • Smooth and quiet ride
  • Capable engines

Cons

  • V8 models are pretty expensive
  • Some rivals feature better off-road capabilities

Exterior

The recent redesign has brought a lot of novelties, so we don’t expect to see any change in the 2020 RAM 1500 when it comes to base design characteristics. First of all, the new generation rides on a completely new platform, which utilizes a lot of lightweight materials.

There is a completely new styling, which looks significantly better compared to the previous generation, despite the fact that the famous crosshair grille design has been abandoned. As we already mentioned, the new generation isn’t available in Regular Cab version at the moment and that will be the biggest novelty for the next year.

The new version will come with a typical single cab layout, which includes a long, 8-foot bed as well.

Interior

The 2020 RAM 1500 will be a very capable machine, but the thing that will make it stand out will actually be its interior design. Compared to other models in the class, this one features pretty upscale cabin design, almost like a premium vehicle.

All surfaces feature soft, premium-grade materials, something you won’t find in rivals like Ford F-150 or even new Chevy Silverado 1500. Besides plenty of quality, this cabin is full of standard features as well. This especially refers to tech goodies.

You can count on things like a 5-inch touchscreen, push-button start, USB ports, Bluetooth etc. Of course, there is much more in higher trims, including goodies like a large 8-inch or huge 12-inch touchscreen, premium audio system, sunroof, smartphone integration and much more.

Engines

When it comes to the powertrain, the recent redesign has brought a couple of familiar engines, which receive a mild hybrid system. This resulted in better efficiency and more torque. So, base models now feature a 3.6-liter V6 that is good for about 305 horsepower.

On the other side, higher trims are equipped with a large 5.7-liter V8, which features a max output of 395 horsepower. The next year is about to bring a new, diesel engine to the offer, according to the latest reports. It should be a familiar 3.0-liter unit, which delivers around 260 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque.
