2020 Toyota Tundra Review- The current generation of the popular full-size truck has been around for more than a decade and it looks like we won’t see a redesign for another couple of years either. Therefore, the company prepares an interesting novelty for the next year.

It looks like we are about to see a new, diesel engine in the offer, along with two familiar gasoline units. Rest of the truck will probably remain unchanged, though we won’t exclude the possibility to see novelties in terms of standard equipment and similar things. Despite the new engine, we don’t expect to see 2020 Toyota Tundra earlier than usual.

Pros

  • Spacious cabin
  • Lots of safety features
  • Efficient new diesel engine
  • Excellent predicted reliability ratings

Cons

  • Poor fuel economy with gasoline engines
  • Rivals can tow more

Exterior

In term of the exterior design, the 2024 Toyota Tundra will definitely remain the same. Despite a decade-old design, this truck still makes quite good sales numbers. Of course, there have been a couple of updates so far. The last wan happened four years ago, when we saw new aesthetics, especially at the front end.

The next-year model won’t bring any important change. So, count on two familiar body styles in the offer – Double Cab and CrewMax. Despite a different cab design, both models feature the same wheelbase and overall dimensions, and the difference in cab dimensions is compensated by different bed sizes.

Interior

On the inside, the Tundra is a kinda mixed bag. On one side, this track features some of the biggest cabins in the class, no matter the style you choose. Therefore, you can count on plenty of space in both rows of seating. Depending on the configuration of the first row, max capacity is either 5 or 6 passengers.

On the other side, the 2024 Toyota Tundra will come without bigger changes. Therefore, you can count on a little bit outdated dashboard design and layout that lacks the refinement of younger rivals. Same refers to the infotainment system, which is quite old and doesn’t feature too many functions.

Still, we must say that the list of standard safety features is pretty impressive, so Tundra is a class leader in this aspect, better than models like Ford F-150 or Ram 1500, despite the age.

Engines

As we already mentioned, the biggest novelty for the 2024 Toyota Tundra will be a new diesel option. We count on a familiar 5.0-liter V8 from Cummins, the same one that powers the Nissan Titan. It is good for about 310 horsepower and 555 pound-feet of torque.

Besides a new oil-burner, the 2024 Toyota Tundra will continue with two familiar gasoline units. Base models will come with a 4.6-liter V8 which is good for about 310 horsepower, while higher trims will feature a bigger and more powerful 5.7-liter V8, which delivers around 380 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque.

2020 Toyota Tundra Release Date and Price

Despite the new engine, the 2024 Toyota Tundra will arrive sometime late in the year. We don’t expect bigger changes in price, so base models should go around $31,000.
