The prototype for what looks to be the refreshed 2019 Porsche Macan has just been spotted testing. The Porsche Macan model has been a huge hit for the German automaker. In fact, it holds the title of the best selling vehicle in their entire current portfolio, with over 19.000 units sold last year in the US alone. This puts the Macan ahead of the previous leader, the Cayenne, than managed to move just 15,383, and the Porsche 911 which sold almost 9.000 units during that same period of time.

The Macan, which was introduced back in the 2015, is steadily approaching the mid-cycle refreshment benchmark. To mark the Macan’s midway point in its life cycle and in order to retain those excellent sales numbers, Porsche is getting ready to implement an update on their top model. The latest round of spy shots shown below don’t tell us too much in terms of specs and performance, but they certainly shed some light on what’s to come for the 2019 model year.

Design

What we learned from these new spy images is that the Porsche designers decided to add new bumpers and a updated daytime running lights design for the 2019 Porsche Macan. There also seems to be a change to the taillight design, that will be getting some little tweaks and improvements. As for the inside, the photographer that was on the scene reports that the test mule’s dashboard was also masked, suggesting that there is something to hide. So, we are expecting some refreshments to the dash design, as well as the infotainment system that should include all the latest features that were introduced with the new 2017 Panamera.

Engine and Powertrain

The engine and powertrain information has not been disclosed yet and we re not really clear on what Porsche has planned for this mid-cycle refreshment. There is a possibility is that we will finally see a plug-in hybrid model added as an option. The hybrid version of the Macan could couple the V-6 engine with an electric motor integrated with the transmission. As for a diesel option, we wouldn’t hold our breath because the Volkswagen Group is now seemingly retreating from diesels altogether. However, the Macan S Diesel should still be offered overseas for the time being.
