Since it made its debut as a 2013 model, the Subaru BRZ has been expected to be seen as a turbocharged and upgraded version. Well, the new 2019 Subaru BRZ concept was revealed at the New York Auto Show. However, when it comes to its Turbo version, there have been just rumors that are honestly unlikely to happen.

Exterior

The 2019 Subaru BRZ Turbo would hit the market as a sports coupe with improved performance and more power. However, the new powertrain would only add up to its weight…and the price, of course. The regular Subaru BRZ, as well as the possible Turbo version, will not undergo any significant exterior updates and it will be mostly based on the 2013 model in terms of design. It will also improve its control, handling and stability and it will be a real fun to ride in it. The chassis will become stiffer and get sub-frames. In the front fascia, you will notice some red details on the grille and bumper and this model will also get a front splitter. Looking at the side profile, this car will get new side skirts and black finish on the mirror caps and it will be standing on the upgraded 18-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires. In the back part of the vehicle, you will notice that the rear wing will remain mostly the same. It will be made from carbon fiber and you can adjust it manually. You can expect all of these features and even more if this model actually hits the market.

Interior

If the 2019 Subaru BRZ Turbo actually makes its appearance, you will find a redesigned cabin inside this model. It will use the high-quality materials, such as Alcantara upholstery and black leather, to cover the seats and furnish the interior. The red details will once again be found on the steering wheel and front seat belts as well as stitching on the seats. We believe that the technology will be upgraded and that the new BRZ will get all the necessary next-generation features as well as safety systems and driver assist options.

Engine

The engine of the 2019 Subaru BRZ Turbo has probably been the most controversial issue when it comes to this model. Probably the biggest reason why this model might not actually hit the market has been the fact that there will not be enough room to place the turbocharged intercooler under the hood. Instead, the new BRZ Turbo would get a twin-scroll turbocharger and direct-injection system. On the other hand, if this model really starts its production, it will use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine that will be able to hit up to 280 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque. But, you probably should not hope for it so much.

2019 Subaru BRZ Turbo Release Date and Price

If the 2019 Subaru BRZ Turbo really sees the light of day sometime, its release date is expected during the first quarter of 2018. The estimated price starts at $26,000 and goes up to $35,000.
