The Pilot has been among class leaders for years and the current generation is no exception at all. Moreover, it is one of the best mid-size crossovers around. Still, the competition is getting tougher, so the company prepares some nice updates for the 2022 Honda Pilot, according to the latest reports. Allegedly, this year model will receive a facelift. Many novelties are rumored for this occasion and some reports even suggest a hybrid powertrain. Other than that, we count on the several aesthetical upgrades, as well as on novelties on the inside.
- Great overall quality
- Spacious cabin
- Comfortable ride
- Lots of standard equipment
- Interior design should be more attractive
In terms of the exterior design, the 2022 Honda Pilot should receive a classic facelift. The current generation is on the market for more than two years. At the time 2022 Honda Pilot arrives, it will be more than three, which seems like a good timing for a mid-cycle refresh. We expect to see pretty common changes in this aspect. The new model should come with an upgraded front end, with modifications of areas like front fascia, grille, bumper etc. Rest of the SUV probably won’t suffer that much. The overall shape will definitely remain the same, but minor tweaks on the rear end are also possible. From the side, count on the wheels, while new color options also sound quite likely.
Without any doubt, the interior of this SUV features a very high level of quality. However, it simply doesn’t provide that upscale look as some of the competitors. The problem is probably in styling and color schemes, so we could expect some changes in this aspect. We expect to see some modifications on the dashboard, especially on the center stack. New color schemes also seem likely, as well as a better materials choice. The current model may lack style, but definitely, don’t have the same problems with interior space. There is plenty of leg and headroom in this SUV. Even the third row can comfortably accommodate adult passengers. Cargo capacity is also great and goes up to an amazing 84 cubic feet.
As we wrote above, a hybrid version should arrive next year. However, we still don’t know which hybrid powertrain will power the 2022 Honda Pilot. On one side, there is a super-economic system from the Accord that features 212 hp. On the other side, a V6-based system from Acura MDX seems like a much better fit, due to a max output of 321 horsepower. In any case, we will finally see a true rival of the Toyota Highlander Hybrid. When it comes to a standard, V6 gasoline engine, expect no changes.
2020 Honda Pilot Release Date and Price
The third quarter of next year seems like a perfect timing for this update, but more details will be known in the next few months. On the other side, the base price will remain the same, around $31,500.
