The famous roadster has been around for almost three decades and holds the leading position in the segment for all that time. We have seen several versions of it and the current model is present for about three years, which means that updates should come pretty soon. Most likely, we will see them for the 2023 Mazda MX-5, when the famous sports car is about to get some novelties in terms of styling, and probably some more changes. Expect to see it sometime in the second half of next year.
- Spectacular handling
- Quick acceleration
- Stylish cabin
- Limited cargo space
The upcoming updates will bring lots of novelties but we don’t expect to see bigger changes in terms of base design characteristics. The 2023 Mazda MX-5 will certainly continue with same mechanics, as well as with a familiar overall shape. This legend offers spectacular handling, which is the main reason why people love this car so much. On the other side, styling updates are always welcome. In this case, we should see a new front end. Most likely, the company will adapt the 2023 Mazda MX-5 to the newest design language. This would mean lots of changes on headlights and grille, new bumper etc. Rest of the car will probably remain unchanged, except we should see new wheels designs in the offer. Some reports also suggest that Mazda could introduce new roof mechanism.
The is a true sports car. There is no place for some flashy fancy details, or for too much equipment. The MX-5 keeps it rather simple. The overall interior design is pretty straightforward. This roadster features a driver-focused dashboard, with a simple instrument cluster and without too much gadgetry or other standard equipment. This definitely isn’t a drawback, considering that competitors stick to the same philosophy too. For this update, the company could introduce few more standard feature, but don’t expect anything special.
This is the aspect where we could easily see some very interesting changes. The current model comes with a familiar 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine that delivers around 155 horsepower. Some reports suggest that the 2023 Mazda MX-5 will come with the same engine, but tuned up to somewhere around 180 hp. Still, exact details are still unknown. Moreover, we are still waiting for the official confirmation. However, if we consider that key rivals, Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ are about to come completely redesigned soon, this boost sounds very likely, especially if we consider that two models are about to get a new turbo engine with significantly more power. With additional power, the 2023 Mazda MX-5 would become even quicker and more agile. It should be able to reach 60 mpg in less than 6 seconds.
2020 Mazda MX-5 Release Date and Price
Expect to see updated 2023 Mazda MX-5 on some of the upcoming car shows. Sales, though, probably won’t start before the second half of the next year. Base models currently go around $25,000 and we shouldn’t see changes in this aspect soon.
