Introduced in 2007, the current generation of the legendary SUV started to show its age a while ago. However, it is still an excellent off-road and that’s the main reason why Toyota engineers won’t rush with the new model. According to the latest reports, the new generation of the iconic off-roader is under development but won’t come so soon. Therefore, the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser will continue pretty much in the same way, featuring familiar design characteristics, offering spectacular off-road performances and a great level of luxury.
Pros
- Spectacular off-road performances
- Spacious cabin
- Full load of standard equipment
Cons
- Poor fuel economy
- Interior design shows signs of aging.
Exterior
As we’ve mentioned already, the Land Cruiser features a decade-old design. However, it is still one of the best models in the class of full-size SUVs, which is full of amazing models such as Lincoln Navigator, Cadillac Escalade, Mercedes G-Class etc. Toyota’s player in the class might be old, but beats all of them in terms of off-road performances. There are many reasons for that. Of course, we are talking about one of the most reliable vehicles in the world, which besides excellent chassis setup comes with a full load of driver aids. Things like all-time 4WD, Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System, Multi-Terrain Select, Cawl Control, locking center differential and hill-start assist are all part of the standard equipment.
Interior
On the inside, this SUV looks great. Still, it starts to show its age. The dashboard design seems very good, as well as materials quality. However, most competitors are much younger and somehow look finer and more upscale. On the other side, the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser will come with a full load of standard equipment and you will hardly find an SUV that combines off-road performances and luxury in such a good way. The great thing about this model is that there is no fooling around with trim levels. Base models already come with pretty much everything Toyota has to offer in this SUV. Believe it or not, a rear-seat entertainment system is the only optional feature.
Engine
If you don’t care about fuel economy, the engine will be fantastic for you. A well-known 5.7-liter V8 delivers around 380 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque and comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Such a setup provides excellent off-road performances, but such a great amount of power also provides strong acceleration and good on-road driving characteristics as well. On the other side, fuel economy is definitely the weakest point of this SUV. It returns only 13 mpg in the city and 18 mpg on the highway, which is the lowest result in the class.
2020 Toyota Land Cruiser Release Date and Price
Since there are no bigger changes to come, the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser will come late in the next year. Base models will go around $85,000.
