Jumping on the electric supercar bandwagon is a Swiss firm by the name of Elextra with their Elextra Electric Supercar. They are hoping that their offering will become the fastest accelerating vehicle ever produced and consequently oust the Tesla Model S P100D that is the record holder in the electric vehicle division.
Engine and Performance
Powering the new Elextra is the dual-motor powertrain that is able to deliver up to 680 horsepower. Power is sent to all four wheels, while the electric motor is positioned at each axle. With this set up, the Elextra Electric Supercar is said to race from zero to 62 mph in less than 2.3 seconds at a top speed of 155 mph. This is just a bit faster than the Tesla Model S P100D with its 2.4 second zero to 60 time, but impressive nonetheless. Facilitating such a performance is the vehicle’s lightweight construction that consists of extra-light carbon fiber.
Elextra hasn’t shared any details about the batteries, but they did say their customers can expect 370 miles on a single charge, or even more, depending on how hard you push your supercar.
Exterior
Designers decided that the new Elextra is a four-door, four-seat supercar, making it stand out from the rest of the field. Leading the design team is Robert Palm, the head of Swiss design firm Classic Factory. Their previous work includes the Lyonheart K sports car and its beautiful retro styling. And they did something similar for the Elextra, combining classic design with modern technology. The vehicle’s design lines are reminiscent of Italian supercars of the past, but the low stance, and sleek styling make its completely relevant and modern.
Elextra Electric Supercar Release Date and Price
The Elextra Electric Supercar will be produced by a separate manufacturer that is based in Stuttgart, Germany. The exact release date and price information are yet to be announced. The only thing we know is that Elextra is planning to release only 100 models of their signature EV. The company will be releasing further details over the course of the 2017 model year. We’ll keep you updated if any new details emerge.
