The 2017 auto show season is in full swing and the latest model taking center stage is the 2017 Genesis G90 Special Edition. This limited-edition version of the Genesis G90 was showcased at the Seoul Motor Show in South Korea this past week and Hyundai’s luxury subdivision pulled out all the stops in an effort to impress the locals, and by the looks of it their Bentley inspired version of the G90 was quite a hit.

This is not the first time the 2017 Genesis G90 Special Edition turned heads at extravagant events. Most recently it played a key role at one of the most glamorous events there is, the star-studded Vanity Fair Oscar Party. The G90 Special Edition was appointed as the designated vehicle to dispatch all the A-listers to and from the annual post-Oscars event. The response was just as great as this week in Seoul.

Design
The main inspiration for the Genesis design team was a gentleman’s pin-stripe suit, whose elements were embodied by the trio of unique two-tone paint schemes. This trio is comprised of a bold Dark Brown Metallic and Dark Gray Matt blend, a more sophisticated Light Gray Matt and Silver Gray, and a Dark Blue Metallic and White Solid combination, which Genesis is calling “a yacht on the ocean.” All of these colors were separated by a hand-painted feature line that runs throughout the G90’s full length. It was painted on by a craftsman with over half-a-century of experience. The color scheme mixes the classic Dark Brown Metallic and Dark Gray Matt
Inside, there is no shortage of luxury.
Everything you see in the cabin is custom made, starting with the Nubuck leather seats that were hand stitched, while the floor mats were intricately-crafted. The head of the Genesis subdivision even stated: “We believe that desire is powered by exquisite design, so every element of our 2017 Genesis G90 Special Edition has been fastidiously executed by our design team and engineers.”

2017 Genesis G90 Special Edition Release Date and Price
At the 2017 Seoul Motor Show showcase, Genesis omitted to comment on whether we will see the 2017 Genesis G90 Special Edition as anything more than what its name suggests. However, rumor has it that the model was such a success at vowing the spectators at auto show extravaganzas and exclusive Hollywood parties, that Genesis might be considering a production model. But, we’ll see.

For now, Genesis has their hands full after their announcement of the launch of two electric variants of the G90 in the near future. Their plan is to release a plug-in hybrid version of the G90 for the 2019 model year, followed by a fully electric version in 2024. Already in the Genesis pipeline is the 2018 G70 that is expected to hit the showrooms by the end of the year.
