The 2018 Chevy Blazer K5 is the vehicle that has been rumored to be on its way back to the off-roader market for quite some time now. Since its debut, all the way back in 1969, this two-door SUV has seen a number of incarnations and has managed to generate a hefty fan base of people that were saddened to hear about its untimely discontinuation in 1995. That year it was replaced with the lumbering soccer mom mobile that is the Chevrolet Tahoe. Now, it is 2017 and GM is reportedly looking to expand their sports utility lineup due to high demand and a solid rise of the economy.

Platform and Powertrain

The word on the street is that GM is ready to bring back the Blazer as a fourth generation full-size two-door K-5 that will take a few cues from the outgoing Tahoe platform. Other possibility for the 2018 Blazer is that it returns as a 2 and 4-door “S-10” that will be using the same platform as the Chevy Colorado.

As for the powertrain, the truth is that the need for a real 4×4 Chevy is ever-present, since a lot of people don’t want to settle for an overpriced 2WD soccer-mom mobile. The 4×4 drive will reportedly come with a high output V6 engine that has a high rate of low-end torque, while a diesel engine is also being discussed.

Interior

The K5 Blazer has always been a vehicle that would allow you to haul some moderate loads, while still being able to fit a couple of buddies inside, quite comfortably that is. That is something that is not expected to change. Areas that will certainly require an outright redesign is the interior styling and high-tech features, considering that when we last saw the Blazer it was the 20th century. Expect the vehicle to be brought into the new age with some stylish and modern design elements, as well as some excellent high tech-features such as the Pioneer AVIC-X930BT Navigation, LED Gauges and a premium audio system.

Exterior

The 2018 Chevy Blazer K5, if released, will probably feature an extensive exterior redesign. Expect most changes to be done to the front and rear side of the vehicle, namely the bumpers that could receive a more aerodynamic look. Also the head and taillights will most certainly be Totron off-road LED lights that should nicely blend in with the bumpers. Expect to see some OEM steps, as well as Nismo skid plates. As for the wheels, they could likely be 17×9 inch, American Outlaw Buckshot with some high quality tires.

2018 Chevy Blazer K5 Release date and price

The price for the 2018 Chevy Blazer K5 is hard to estimate, since the concept version isn’t even out yet, and a lot of the price depends on how many options and features Chevy will add to the Blazer. Our fear is that they don’t decide to turn it into a full-blown land yacht and therefore sky-rocket the price.

Before the 2018 Chevy Blazer K5 gets released, there first needs to be a concept version of the vehicle presented. As for when this could be, we still don’t know and the chances for an actual production version is, in all honesty, pretty slim. However, you can do your part by spreading the word, sharing the article and notifying other Blazer fans in order to get GM to take notice that there is still a demand for a 4×4 Chevy off-roader. If GM does decide to bring the Blazer back from the dead, expect the concept version to premiere sometime in the 2018 model year.
