First details about the 2018 Jaguar E-Pace are just starting to come out and since Jaguar has gotten an unusual habit of announcing the price tag of their new models before any other aspect of the vehicle. So, today we get the starting price and some teaser images as a precursor to the E-Pace’s official debut that is scheduled next month.
Design
When is comes to the design, even though Jaguar hasn’t been as forthcoming with details and teaser images as usual, the E-Pace has hardly been a secret. The prototypes for this new model have been spotted on multiple instances over the course of a year. When compared to the Jaguar F-Pace, the E-Pace is sporting a much more chiseled design, particularly in the back. In the front, the design lines are reminiscent of the Jaguar F-Type sports car and its sporty design. When it gets released, the new Jaguar E-Pace will be competing with the likes of Audi Q3, BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLA, as well as the brand-new Cadillac XT4.
The Director of Design, Ian Callum had this to say about the company’s latest model: “The combination of sports car looks with Jaguar performance will ensure that the E-Pace stands out.”
Engine and Powertrain
Most of the engine and powertrain details are still being kept a secret, but we do know that the new 2018 Jaguar E-Pace will come with an all-wheel drive that will be standard and it will reportedly be powered only by inline-4 engines. The platform that will underpin this new model takes a lot of cues from the LR-MS design that is featured in the current Land Rover Discovery Sport.
2018 Jaguar E-Pace Release Date and Price
The starting price for the new model has been set at $39,595, including a $995 destination charge, but the higher trims could add thousands more to this base amount. This price point puts the new E-Pace slightly below the F-Pace and its $43.060 starting price, in the Jaguar ranks. The 2018 Jaguar E-Pace will officially debut on July 13th and you will be able to find it in a showroom near you by the beginning of next year.
