A brand-new test mule for what looks to be the 2018 Mercedes-AMG E43 Cabriolet has just been spotted testing leading us to believe that the release date of the updated E43 might not be too far behind. There are also reports that the coupe version of the E43 is also in the works, and should follow the cabriolet’s release by the beginning of next year.
Exterior
After the recent refreshments of the E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet, which saw some drastic changes and improvements to the exterior design and the interior fit and finishes, as well as an overall improvement to the ride quality, there are a lot of expectations of Mercedes-AMG to do the same with these upcoming E43 Coupe and Cabriolet models.

The prototype model seen here in the spy shots is wearing a redesigned side skirt and a somewhat better pronounced rear spoiler. Other upgrades will include a new body kit, as well as larger wheels and brakes. Furthermore, the images appear to show the new model’s quad muffler set up is practically identical to its sedan sibling and we expect even more features mirror the ones on the E-Class when the production model comes to life.
Engine and Powertrain
At the moment, not much is known regarding the engine and powertrain alignment for the new 2018 Mercedes-AMG E43 Cabriolet. What we do know is that all of Mercedes-AMG 43 models come equipped with the 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 engine that is capable of producing an output of about 396 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque. Standard transmission for the AMg 43 models is a nine-speed 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission that transports the power to all four wheels through the their trusted 4Matic system. We expect that the new Mercedes-AMG E43 Cabriolet and Coupe will, despite its sporty demeanor, feature time same old Mercedes powertrain under their hood.
2018 Mercedes-AMG E43 Cabriolet Release Date and Price
There is no official information on the release date of the 2018 Mercedes-AMG E43 Cabriolet, but we expect to see it make its debut, alongside the E43 Coupe model by the end of the year, as a 2018 model. As for the pricing, the new model’s starting price should not greatly diverge from the current E43’ starting price of $73.345.
