When it comes to Subaru, you probably remember that its Forester model has undergone some recent changes and upgrades, but it seems that this SUV is also on its way to hit the market as a 2018 model. Subaru has been preparing an additional updates in terms of exterior, interior and engine, including its new Black Edition trim package.

Exterior

The 2018 Subaru Forester is going to make its debut as a practical crossover. The new SUV is expected to improve fuel economy and its off-road capability. When it comes to exterior, the new Subaru will retain its classic shape and traditional design, but its chassis will in a way be stiffer. This crossover will also have a larger wheelbase, so it will definitely offer a sense of safe and stable ride. The new Forester will be available in six trims, including the new, previously mentioned – Black Edition trim package, so the equipment you get will depend on the trim you choose. The standard model will be standing on 17-inch steel wheels, but the Black Edition trim includes 18-inch alloy wheels with black finish. Besides wheels, black accents can be also found on body trim, mirror caps and grille. The standard model will get smaller headlights and taillights that will be using the LED technology as well as automatic high beams in Black Edition.

Interior

Since we have mentioned the larger wheelbase, the 2018 Subaru Forester is expected to provide more spacious and comfortable cabin. The interior will also depend on the trim you choose, but the standard equipment will not let you down either. When it comes to innovations, the 2018 Forester will have a quieter cabin that will reduce the outside noise and vibrations. The seats will be adjustable in 10 ways and covered in black cloth upholstery, but you will be also able to choose between the Saddle Brown and Saddle Black leather in higher trims. This crossover will accommodate up to five passengers and offer a large cargo space as well. Higher trims will get a sunroof and heated steering wheel while the size of a center touch-screen display will range from 6.2 to 7.0 inches. Safety systems and driver assist features will be provided, too, and some of them include radar cruise control, automatic braking, a rearview camera, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist and rear cross-traffic alert.

Engine

The 2018 Subaru Forester will probably offer two options under its hood. The first, standard will come with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that will be able to deliver 170 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. It will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission, but also offer a choice of a CVT. The other, optional version uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 250 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The new Forester will offer a standard all-wheel-drive system.

The 2018 Subaru Forester should be expected to be released by the end of this year. The estimated price of a base model starts at $22,795 while the Black Edition trim package could cost around $26,845.
