Toyota’s bestselling mid-sized sedan, made its triumphant return at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show with the the 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid, the eco-friendly version of one of the most popular cars in America. There we were promised a true driver’s car, one that is both captivating and stirring, as well as sporty and fun. Naturally, the consumer public, the one that has helped the Camry receive the status of one of the best selling American vehicles of 2016, will be the ultimate judge of that.
2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid Exterior and Interior
From what we have seen at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show, there are a number of changes and improvements to the new model. The new 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid will have a slightly lower center of gravity, thanks to the somewhat lower and wider body. This could result in an improved driving dynamic. Moreover, the A-pillars have reportedly been re-positioned for better outward vision. Quite a welcome improvement from the front-three-quarter vision being impaired by the previous A-pillars.
Inside, most improvements come from the high-tech side of the spectrum. Brand new features for the 2018 model year will include a head-up display, a 10-inch touchscreen, wireless map updates, a JBL audio system, and Wi-Fi with 4G LTE. As for the safety, some of the standout features include the dynamic cruise control and pre-collision assistance with pedestrian detection. And good news is, these come as standard features.
Trim levels remain the same, with four separate options: LE, XLE, SE and XSE.
2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid Engine and Powertrain
Powertrain options include a new and improved entry level 2.5-liter 4-cylinder unit, as well as the 3.5-liter V6 engine. Both of these choices come mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. As an alternative to these two options, there will also be a new hybrid powertrain, for which Toyota promises the best in class fuel economy. We also know that the battery pack will be located beneath the rear seat. But other than that, they were not willing to share any further details regarding the eco-friendly version of the Camry. We will keep you updated if any new information emerges.
2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid Release Date and Price
The 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid is scheduled to hit the showrooms by the end of the summer, while the price information is yet to be released. However, expect the new Camry to start somewhere around the same ballpark as the current model that is available right now for $23,070.
