The new generation of the legendary SUV came recently, as the 2018 year model. In most cases, we wouldn’t expect more important changes for the third year of production, but it looks like the company has something different in mind. We are about to see new engine options for the 2024 Jeep Wrangler. It looks like the third year of production will bring to us both plug-in hybrid and diesel version. Seems like a fairly good amount of novelties for one year. Other than that, the 2024 Wrangler will continue in the same way.
Pros
- Great off-road capabilities
- Wide palette of engine options
- User-friendly infotainment system
Cons
- Not so refined on the road
- Fuel economy could be better
Exterior
The 2024 Jeep Wrangler has been redesigned recently, so there is no real need for bigger changes at the moment. As you can notice, the new model sticks closely to the original styling philosophy. Visual changes are minimal and barely notable. On the other side, there are completely new mechanics under the skin. The new SUV gets a completely new architecture, developed exclusively for it and for its truck derivate. It comes with lots of new design solutions that have improved off-road capabilities, that are now closer to the absolute leader in this aspect, Toyota 4Runner. The 4Runner might be more expensive, but it still offers uncomparable off-road performances, as well as several advanced driver-assist features.
Interior Design
The cabin of new Wrangler is also completely new and there is no room for changes at the moment. We are about to see the same cabin layout, which features a completely new dashboard. The new dash is waterproof and comes not only with new, more attractive look but with a variety of new tech features as well, including Jeep’s well-known infotainment system, famous for its amazing user-friendly characteristics. On the other side, it is still way behind 4Runner in terms of practicality. The 4Runner offers an optional third row of seating, far more cargo space, as well as more standard equipment.
Engines
As we’ve already mentioned, the biggest novelties will come under the hood. We are about to see a new, plug-in hybrid version. Most likely, it will be the same system that powers Chrysler Pacifica. It is a combination of 3.6-liter V6 engine and two electric motors, with a total output of 260 hp. As you can see, the output is on par with gasoline models, but fuel economy will be significantly better. Another economy-minded novelty will be a diesel version. Without any doubt, it will feature a familiar 3.0-liter six-cylinder unit, which delivers around 240 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. Current gasoline engines, with 270 and 285 hp will carry on without changes.
2020 Jeep Wrangler Release Date and Price
Considering that there are two completely new versions to come, the 2024 Jeep Wrangler release date could be scheduled for some earlier date than usual. This would mean sometime in the third quarter of next year. On the other side, the base price will remain the same, around $24,000.
