One of the most popular mid-size crossovers on the market is about to get a complete redesign and come completely new as 2024 Toyota Highlander. The famous SUV has been around for 18 years and we have seen three generations of it so far. The fourth generation is about to come next year, with a bunch of novelties. Of course, we will see a completely new styling, but also things like a new architecture, new interior design and much more.

Exterior

On the outside, the most notable thing will certainly be a new styling. We expect to see the 2024 Toyota Highlander adapted to the brand’s newest design language. Basically, it should be something very similar to the new RAV4, just in a bigger package. The new design philosophy involves a lot of sharp lines, as well as many interesting design solutions, such as integrated front fascia and bumper, more conventional headlights design etc. More importantly, the 2024 Toyota Highlander will ride on the new TNGA platform. This architecture already debuted in a few Toyota models, including famous Camry. From what we can see on these models, the new generation of this crossover should come with much better driving dynamics, which was the biggest drawback of this model so far, compared to rivals like Honda Pilot, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Subaru Ascent, Mazda CX-9 etc.

Interior

The interior will also receive a lot of new things. First of all, there is a completely new cabin layout to come. The company should focus on further digitalization and better materials quality. The look of the new dashboard should be inspired by the one you can find in the new RAV4. This would mean an almost symmetrical look, with straight horizontal lines. Of course, expect to see a bunch of new technologies on the inside as well. Among them, the company’s new Safety Sense package will definitely find its place, already in the base model. This suite is full of advanced safety technologies, including things like parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, surround-view camera and much more.

Engines

We are pretty sure that the base engine for the 2024 Toyota Highlander will be a familiar 2.5-liter atmospheric inline-four. It has a max output of 205 horsepower. A familiar 3.5-liter V6 unit has been revised recently. So, it should continue in the same way, offering 295 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque. Some reports also suggest a new 2.0-liter turbo engine, which seems pretty efficient, considering a max output of 235 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. A new hybrid version should also come, though we are still waiting for some precise information.

2020 Toyota Highlander Release Date and Price

The new 2024 Toyota Highlander will probably have its premiere on some major car show during next year. Sales should start soon after. In terms of price, we expect similar range as for the current model, which goes from $31,000 to $47,000, roughly.
