According to the latest reports, the 2024 Toyota Tacoma won’t come with such changes, but that doesn’t mean we won’t see big novelties.
It looks like the company prepares a new version of this truck, with a diesel engine. This would definitely be a great addition to the lineup, considering that more and more manufacturers are offering oil-burners in this class. The current generation of Tacoma has been around for about three years. Therefore, we don’t count on more important changes in the next year. Base design characteristics will definitely remain unchanged. Count on same mechanics, which are largely based on the legendary Hilux.
In terms of the styling, this truck has introduced a new styling approach and we expect other body-on-frame vehicles to follow this trend. A facelift probably won’t happen in a year or two. So, count on a familiar styling. In terms of body styles, you can count on either Access Cab or Double Cab layouts. Unlike some rivals, such as Chevy Colorado, this model isn’t available in single cab layouts.
Interior
This is another area of the 2024 Toyota Tacoma which is about to remain the same. Therefore, count on spacious cabins, which come in versions for either four or five people.
In both cases, you can count on excellent cabin quality, despite the fact that most surfaces are made of hard plastics, which isn’t the case with some rivals, such as Honda Ridgeline, which is full of soft-touch surfaces and features far more style on the inside. The Tacoma is rather functional, with a focus on durability, reliability, and practicality.
Engines
As we already mentioned, the biggest novelty for the next year should be a new diesel engine in the offer. We count on a familiar 2.8-liter unit from Hilux, which is good for about 180 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque.
Other than this oil-burner, the 2024 Toyota Tacoma will also come with familiar gasoline units. The base one is a 2.7-liter four-cylinder with around 160 hp, while the optional 3.5-liter V6 delivers 278 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque.
2020 Toyota Tacoma Release Date and Price
We expect to see 2024 Toyota Tacoma sometime late in the year. The price should remain unchanged, which means that base models will probably go around $25,000.
