Amidst the bevy of prototypes for the brand-new Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe the company has been testing, the 2020 Mercedes AMG C63 Coupe is the latest to be spotted. This is the long-awaited mid-cycle refreshment of the high-performance coupe that is expected to debut sometime in the 2019 model year.

Exterior and Interior

Considering the 2020 Mercedes AMG C63 Coupe will only be getting a mid-cycle refreshment we don’t expect to see any drastic changes to the exterior design. The new coupe will only be receiving some mild updates and improvements such as new internals for the headlights and the Panamericana-style grille that AMG has been incorporating to their models more and more.
On the inside, the C63 we expect to see a bit more extensive update. The aforementioned C-Class prototypes were spotted testing with a brand-new steering wheel as well as touch pad controllers integrated into the center consoles rather than the old rotary dial display.

Engine and Powertrain

Under the hood, the new 2020 Mercedes AMG C63 will reportedly stay with the 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 engine the current model is sporting. However, the 7-speed automatic of the outgoing model is rumored to be replaced by the new 9-speed auto. In terms of performance, it is likely that the new model will see an output increase, despite the fact the C63 is currently the leader of the pack when it comes to horsepower. The standard model can reach up to 469 horsepower while the C63 S Coupe model delivers as much as 503 hp. But if that is not enough for your particular sensibilities, Mercedes is prepping a more hardcore variant, the C63 R.
