Here is the 2018 Ferrari 812 Superfast, a new and improved version of the F12 Berlinetta. Just before its grand debut at the 2017 Geneva Auto Show, new details about the 812 Superfast emerge. Thanks to many upgrades and the new 6.3-liter V12, we can officially name the new Superfast the fastest Ferrari production model ever to exist.
Exterior and Interior
There are some design changes from its predecessor, the F12, especially in the back where the lines overwhelm the entire rear side. From the front, the LED headlights follow the latest trend of being blended into the sculpted air intakes on the hood. In addition, there are some new adjustable flaps which are included in the front, as well as the back. They control the drag and downforce levels.
The overwhelming feeling of the exterior is continued into the cabin, where there is a bevy of buttons and knobs all over the place. There are also quite a few new display screens, in the center stack, as well as the dashboard on the passenger. And finally, the seats get an improved, more ergonomic design.
Engine and Performance
The 2018 Ferrari 812 Superfast is powered by a brand-new 6.5-liter V12 engine with a staggering output of 789 horsepower at 8,500 rpm and 530 pound-feet of torque at 7,000 rpm. This engine is also capable of producing 80 percent of its torque from just 3,500 rpm. Moreover, it includes the direct fuel injection and variable length intake tracts, previously featured on the LaFerrari, whose job it is to increase the volumetric efficiency of this V12.
In terms of performance, Ferrari informs us that the Superfast goes from 0-62 mph in just 2.9 seconds, super-fast indeed. That is about 0.2 seconds better than its predecessor the F12 Berlinetta and pretty much the same as the F12 TDF. The new Ferrari Superfast weighs 3,362 pounds, while the top speed is set at 211 mph.
Furthermore, the Superfast borrows the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission from the F12, but adds some new gear ratios that when coupled with the shorter shifting times between gears, drastically improve the throttle response. This new supercar also adds electronic power steering, which is a first for any Ferrari vehicle.
2018 Ferrari 812 Superfast Release Date and Price
The 2018 Ferrari 812 Superfast is scheduled to premiere at the Geneva auto show, which begins March 7th. There we will hopefully get more information about the release date and price, but for now, you can expect to see the new 812 Superfast in the US showrooms by the start of next year. In terms of price, the Superfast will surely go for more than its predecessor’s $325.000. About $335.000 is our best bet for a starting price, and hopefully Ferrari will reveal some of the pricing information in Geneva next week.
