After the recent mid-cycle refresh, it would be hard to expect bigger changes for the 2024 Chevrolet Malibu. The current, eighth-generation model of this mid-size sedan is present for about three years and it already received a facelift. Of course, changes are not significant, but still notable. Of course, the focus of this update was a visual upgrade, while other aspects have remained pretty much the same. So, all these tweaks indicate that 2024 Malibu is about to continue in the same way, featuring recently received new styling and familiar cabin design and powertrain. Expect to see it in late 2019.

Pros

  • Affordable price
  • Wide engine palette
  • Spacious trunk

Cons

  • Rivals offer much better interior quality
  • Below-average fuel economy

Exterior

As well already mentioned, the recent update has brought several interesting novelties. Most of them are visual and should carry on for the 2024 Chevrolet Malibu model. This means that we are about to see the same new front end, which includes new, bigger grille. Once again, it comes in two pieces, split by a chrome bar. On the other side, the rest of the sedan will remain pretty much the same as on the initial 2016-year model. Same goes for the mechanics. This model is based on the company’s familiar Epsilon II platform, which has been used for a few more mid-size cars from General Motors.

Interior

Unlike the exterior design, the interior remained pretty much untouched and it will in the 2024 Chevrolet Malibu too. This means a pretty familiar cabin design, characterized by pretty spacious seats in both rows. On the other side, materials feature a slightly lower quality compared to class-leader Toyota Camry and Honda Accord, but that seems logical considering the model’s affordable price. On the other side, a great thing about 2024 Chevrolet Malibu will be that things like an 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, smartphone integration, six-speaker, and similar things will be available already in the base model. In higher trims, you can also count on things like navigation, premium Bose audio system, a Wi-Fi hotspot and much more.

Engines

There are three familiar powertrain choices that will be offered in the 2024 Chevrolet Malibu as well. The offer starts with a familiar 1.5-liter turbo inline-four, which is good for about 160 horsepower. An optional 2.0-liter turbo inline-four is far more potent. It delivers around 250 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. For those economy-minded drivers, there is also a hybrid version which combines a 1.8-liter gasoline engine with two electric motors. Total output goes up to 182 horsepower, while fuel economy is usually somewhere around 46 miles per gallon in a combined drive.

2020 Chevrolet Malibu Release Date and Price

We expect this model to come in the last quarter of the next year. There are no important novelties to come, so there is really no good reason for some earlier arrival. The price of the 2024 Chevrolet Malibu will remain unchanged, which means that the base model will go around $22,000.
