The comeback of the iconic sports car is one of the most anticipated events for the next year. After almost two decades of absence from the U.S. market and 16 years since discontinuation, the legendary model is coming back as 2024 Toyota Supra. It will have a premiere at the upcoming Detroit Auto Show, though the company still keeps its final look under veils of a secret. At this point, we know that the new model won’t be much different from the FT-1 concept and that, more importantly, will be very fast.

Exterior
The all-new, fifth generation of Supra is coming very soon so let’s take a quick recapitulation of what we know about the new model so far. It’s no secret that the 2024 Toyota Supra is a part of Toyota’s joint venture with BMW. Two companies worked together on Supra and new BMW Z4. Both models will ride on the same architecture and feature the same drivetrain. On the other side, the Supra will come with its own suspension setup, designed by the company’s performance department, known as Gazoo. When it comes to the styling, we are still relying on the FT-1 Concept from four years ago.
The new 2024 Toyota Supra shouldn’t be much different in styling. As you remember, a camouflaged Supra debuted at Goodwood Festival of Speed this summer. However, it was completely camouflaged, so we didn’t manage to spot too many differences compared to the concept. From what we know at this point, the new model will come with a little bit different face, with slightly smaller air intakes, but the open nose on the other side.
Interior
We can only hope that the new 2024 Toyota Supra will keep some of the design solutions from the FT-1 concept. This interior was very futuristic, with clearly separated driver’s and passenger’s seat by a massive center console. The cabin came in a classic coupe 2+2 layout and we expect nothing less from the production model. As you may presume, the new model will have a lot of cars to compete with, but we are mainly seeing it as a competitor to muscle cars like Mustang or Camaro, as well as to some premium sports cars like Chevy Corvette, Porsche Boxter, Audi R8 etc.
Engine of new 2024 Toyota Supra
This is the area where we don’t have any doubt about how the new 2024 Toyota Supra will look like. As we already mentioned, the new model will share the engine with the new BMW Z4. In this joint venture, the Bavarian company took care of the engine. So, we are about to see a familiar 3.0-liter turbo inline-six with a max output of around 335 horsepower, though some reports suggest a significant power boost for this occasion. Same reports suggest 0-60 time about 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 200 miles per hour.
2020 Toyota Supra Release Date and Price
The 2024 Toyota Supra will debut in January, at the Detroit Auto Show. Sales should start a few months later and latest reports estimate that the base model will go around $50,000.
